Cleaning is an Investment, Not a Cost (And I’m here to tell you why)

Office Cleaning

Many people look at office cleaning as a necessary expense, similar to power and water bills. But, alas, they are wrong and this leads them down a dark and dangerous path. If you see cleaning as a cost, you will be tempted to get the lowest bid operator. All cleaning is the same, right? Just like all power companies are the same. Wrong-o!
We discussed in another blog post why cleaners often disappoint (hint: underbidding) and this is a direct result of the “cost” mentality.
Let’s look at cleaning in another way (humour me here).
Cleaning provides the following to your business:

  • Reduction in sick days – you pay for that, now 10 days a year
  • Boost in employee morale and retention – who wants to work in a dirty office?
  • Increased productivity – studies show employees have trouble focussing in a messy office
  • Regular cleaning extends the life of your facility – particularly floors which are very expensive to replace.
  • Impresses clients – studies show customers would rather do business with a clean facility. If just 5% of your customers left, or avoided you, because of an unkempt office, how much is that costing you every year?

Cleaning is not a cost. It is an investment which pays immediate dividends.

Remember, it’s not just waxing your floor. It’s polishing your image.
